How Would You Like To Be Off One Extra Day For Winter Break?

Oops!  We don't come back to school after winter break until Tuesday, January 3rd.  I mistakenly put January 2nd on our December calendar.  So sorry for any confusion!!!!

Concord made $16,000 from our cookie dough and magazine sale fundraiser!!!  Wow, we really are some lucky ducks to be part of such a generous group!!!

Mrs. Creech is looking for some group pics of the kindergarten musical to post on her blog.  If you have some, could you please email a couple to me?  I'll pass them on to her.  Thanks!

Using 10 Frames...

Using 10 Frames is one of my favorite things to teach in math!  Kids pick up so quickly that when they can start by knowing what 10 looks like, they can quickly add up or down.
Here is a great link to a game that your kiddo can play using 10 Frames...

Check out our Adopt-a-Family box, it's really filling up!  Friday will be Jingles for Jammies.  Bring in change and wear your jammies to school! All donations will be given to our special family.  Thanks so much!

The Alpha-BAT!

Big thanks to all of the parensts for helping to put together a FABULOUS party!

Some Scoop:  Your child is bringing home a gallon-sized Zip-lock bag in his/her folder.  This is as optional idea to collect donations (think Unicef) while trick-or-treating.  Donations will be made to Joplin schools that were impacted by the tornado.

Tomorrow is PJ Day!!!!

Check out the winning jack-o-lantern face.  Kids put designs on a piece of paper and we picked out of a hat.

Daily Message

Every morning we do lots of activites with our daily message.  We write it together, we fill in missing words, we ask a class question, tally the results, and make a math problem out of the results.  We touch read the sentences and the Special Student of the Day gets to take it home.  During free choice, these boys choose
to use some of our special "reading glasses" and pointers and practice the message.  Enjoy!!!

Really Radical Readers!

Super-fly Fun Homework Tonight:  We have been working on our apple poem this week.  Tonight your kindergartner is invited to "read" the poem to five friends. This might mean that your kiddo calls grandparents on the phone and reads it to them, reads it to your pets, neighbors, little brothers and sisters, etc...
Check out the Please Return side of your child's folder for more information.  Happy Reading!!!

A message from Dr. Stryjewski:

Concord Families, please help us fill the shelves of the St. Louis Area Foodbank Sept. 26-30. Lindbergh Schools and the Lindbergh Retired Educators are asking each student and staff member throughout the district to donate one nonperishable food item. Did you know that 39% of the more than 57,000 people served by the St. Louis Area Foodbank are children? Together, we can help feed our neighbors and provide more than 6,000 food items. Our collection point at Concord is the lobby. Let's show our Concord Flyer spirit and support this wonderful drive! Canned items may be brought in starting on Monday, Sept. 26th.

Don't forget we are "pinking out" for Friday's Spirit Day!
